http://stopforumspam.com/ is a website that keeps a database of known spammers. Have you ever checked this website or use it to determine if a questionable member is actually a spammer?

Nope, I had never heard of this site until now. Seems pretty handy though, might use it in the future.

I have used it and just last week, I found 8 spammers here at Off Topix. The site is easy to use and I highly recommend it to all forum owners.

This is a real life-saver when it comes to running your forum. If I'm suspicious of a new member on my forum, I look up their IP address there so see if it's a match and if so, that said member gets deleted straight away. Then again, I have email verification enabled and sometimes spambots can bypass that...

(and Jazzy, I saw three of the spammers here recently. Good to see they're gone now)

It's a very useful site. Usually an IP search on Google does the trick too.

When I found the spammers here, I didn't do only an IP search. I did a username search as well because their names were suspicious. I did both the IP and username all on this one site.

I dont rely on ip searches because they can be reassigned to regular people when they are no longer in use. I usually check emails.

I choose not to utilize IP Searches, Nebulous said it best, they can be reassigned to regular people whenever they are no longer in use, and I need to be absolutely clear that there is justification for their banning or deletion. I would essentially just wait for them to make the first move then, and only then, would I send them packing.

Sounds good to me

We're using this plugin- https://github.com/tommm/stopforumspam
I have it set to check if emails are listed in the stopforumspam database. I use it along with a couple other spam bot prevention plugins and they seem to be working for the most part.

Imo, Forum owners MUST use this, one of the best preventers and finders of spammers, Really helped my old site and has been a great help at my current forum.
