This guy I know called and asked me out for lunch. He said it was to celebrate my new job. I thought that was very nice of him and met him at the cafe. We had finished our lunch and the waitress asked if we would like anything else. HE said: No thank you. If you could bring us our separate checks, we're good to go.

I was so freaking mad I could have slapped him. After the checks arrived, he excused himself to use the restroom. I took my check, paid at the register, got in my truck and left as fast as I could. I had no cash on me so I had to charge my lunch.

Shouldn't HE have paid for my lunch too since HE was the one who invited me to lunch?

Yes, when you invite someone out to lunch, its implied that you are going to pay... unless you establish that there will be seperate checks before hand. What a jerk.

Having lunch with guys eh? :/

He was a friend of mine. He did call again. I told him off and hung up.

Did you call him a cheapskate?

That and some other choice words that I'll just leave up to your imagination.

Any ways, I'd pay if I asked you on a date, I mean out for lunch...
I was waiting for a reply from you.. I pictured something like this. ;P

I never go out expecting the other person to pay, In fact usually end up having an argument with the other person as I feel guilty when someone pays for me.

But I do agree that if he stated it was celebratory then he should have said before that the bill would be split.

I agree with Nebulous. As he was inviting you, you shouldn't have had to even put out a penny, or in your case, charge. Or what he could have done was asked for seperate checks for both meals, and paid his and yours off at the same time... or better still, add all hte costs together of both meals and he'd still have to pay. It's not really much of a treat if he's making you pay for your lunch, or even charge it for that matter.

Want to hear the best one yet? When he called me he asked me out to dinner. Well, then the words just left my mouth and there was no turning back. Freakin' creep and arsehole.

~Update~

Unbelievable that his arsehole called me again this morning. He asked me out to lunch. The conversation went like this:

Him: Hi, I know you're mad about what happened last time but I was wondering if you'd go to lunch with me today. I promise, it won't cost you a dime.

Me: Are you out of your f'ing mind calingl me?

Him: Listen, I really like you and want to get to know you better. Please, will you meet me for lunch?

Me: No, YOU listen and listen real good. Don't you ever call me again. If you do, I will call the cops and tell them you are harassing me. Got it?

Him: You really don't know what you're missing. I could treat you like a princess.

Me: I don't need to be treated like a princess by you or anyone else. Why? Because I'm a queen, you arsehole!

Before he could say anything else, I just slammed the phone down.

I have a whistle and caller ID. If he tries to call again, his ears are going to get blasted off his head!

If I had one, I would surely use it!

Who left the tip?

I added the tip to MY bill. Not sure if he left one too or not. Probably not since he's so cheap he squeaks when he walks!

Wanted to share a laugh with you guys.

He called again this morning. I picked up the phone but I didn't say anything. I had the whistle all ready to go.

As soon as he said: Hello, are you there? I blew the whistle as hard as I could.

Then I heard him say: WTF was that? I blew the whistle again and hung up.......

Nice one there! I'd have been too scared to use the whistle though! I'm no good with confrontations like that, unfortunately. I also thought that was good when you told him "I'm no princess I'm a queen!" That really made my day! Good going!
