LAPD Deputy Chief Kirk Albanese told the Los Angeles Times it was unclear whether attacker spoke to the woman before allegedly setting her ablaze.

There was no incident or dispute or clear motivation for this horrific attack. He did not know his victim. It defies explanation, Albanese said. He is not of sound mind. ... The motive is mental illness.

I suppose easy access to lighters caused this attack.

SUBWAY TRAIN REGISTRATION is the answer

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — A man was killed Thursday evening after being shoved in front of an oncoming Subway train, police said.

Investigators continued to look for a female suspect, who is believed to have pushed the victim as a Queens-bound “7″ train sped into the 40th Street-Lowery Street station around 8 p.m., 1010 WINS’ Eileen Lehpamer reported.

Since when does competition make a person evil? Can you give me some examples?

For the record: I must not be part of this society you speak of because I am not evil.

Competition teaches you to destroy and crush your competitors and usually to win at all costs, all evil concepts...

Well, when not in society a sane individual is not necessarily evil but when in society (evil) even a sane individual must be evil in order to compete and survive. That's the real truth.

Competition is healthy for people. It encourages us to put ourselves out there and risk failure and success. There is a new trend to shield children from competition because their feelings may get hurt if they lose. How could this possibly benefit our children? If children never learn how to lose when they are young then how do they handle adulthood where life if wrought with difficulties: eliminated job positions, relationships that go south, lost tennis matches, and financial trouble? The goal is to prepare our children for adulthood so that they can face life head-on with guts and not crumble at failure. We want to teach our children to tackle life with gusto.

Competition leads to greed, corruption, decadence, lies, scams, etc. So, and for example, just look at politics these days, it is also about competition (between the parties) and little to nothing gets done. No cooperation, etc!

You do know that a debate is a competition in which different people take their opinions and compete with others to win them over so if competition is so terrible then why are you involved in what could easily be seen as a competition?

The problem lies in when you value winning over sportsmanship. It is just as important to win as to remain classy while doing so. I really don't believe you have to give up being sportsmanlike to win at anything.

Mental illness is a problem and it is our inability to properly identify who can and can't own a gun or who should or shouldn't be forcibly admitted to a mental health hospital and how we go with sharing that information with others is an issue we need to address.

Question.

Who was the woman that pushed the guy in front of the train in New York in competition with?

What was she competing for?

What did she gain by killing a stranger?

On a related note:

How is killing a turtle that is crossing a road advantageous in this competition?

CLEMSON, S.C. — Clemson University student Nathan Weaver just wanted to put together a project to help figure out the best way to assist turtles in crossing the road. But he also ended up with a peek into the dark souls of some human beings.

Weaver put realistic-looking rubber turtles, no bigger than a saucer, in the middle of a lane on a busy road near campus. Then he got out of the way and watched as over the next hour, seven drivers intentionally ran over the turtle, and several more appeared to try to hit the defenseless animal, but missed.

Evidently, they didn't get His Majesty's memo:

It is much easier to show compassions to animals. They are never wicked.

Because I like it.

In order to win one usually needs to have an unfair advantage. Look at Lance Armstrong for example...

I don't see a winner in anyone who cheats. You might not see their cheating but they who cheat will always know they never truly won on their own merits. If it is discovered that they cheat then it will always be known as I plus drugs won such as Lance Armstrong plus drugs won the Tour De France.

It says a lot about a person who has such a low opinion of his abilities that he feels that only cheating will produce victory. That is hardly a winner in my eyes.

Well, many, many (Lance Armstrong et al) will cheat in order to win regardless of how you see it.

The fact remains that he won, regardless. Also, many others did cheat like Barry Bonds, etc, etc...

Well, I really don't think that Lance, Barry, etc, have (or had) a low opinion about their abilities!

Again, what is usually taught in business, sports, etc, in order to be successful, is for one to have an unfair competitive advantage over the competition...

Just curious what school has taught you this?

Do you work?

Do you play sports?

What, other than drugs, would you consider an unfair advantage over the competition?
