Off Topix is a well established general discussion forum that originally opened to the public way back in 2009! We provide a laid back atmosphere and our members are down to earth. We have a ton of content and fresh stuff is constantly being added. We cover all sorts of topics, so there's bound to be something inside to pique your interest. Hi guys,

Pardon the mess, but we are back online. The downtime went a little bit longer than expected, but we've finally got the forum back to its presentable self. During this downtime, we completed a number of punch list items. I'll try to list them off.
  • Upgraded to the latest version of XenForo, version 2.3.6.
  • Upgraded a ton of add-ons, and removed a number of add-ons that we decided would be on the chopping block.
  • Replaced the Shoutbox add-on with the Chat 2 add-on, taking advantage of the extra features that this add-on has.
  • Installed the Shop add-on, starting the process in providing you guys with something to spend your OT Bucks on. You'll be able to purchase stickers that will display in your profile. You'll notice that basically nothing has been added so far, and that's because it's almost 4:00 AM here. Work in progress, we'll get there.
  • Renamed a few things around the forum. "Quizzes" will now be known as "Trivia" and "Social groups" will now be known as "Clubs." I've only change the menu and the URLs so far, so it isn't totally change. I'll have to go through and update all the phrases throughout the forum when I get the chance.
  • Ideally decluttered the place a little bit, but if there is anything you see that you're missing, let us know. I removed quite a few add-ons, so there may be features that are now missing that people are going to want to see back. I've also made a few things more aesthetically pleasing (in my opinion anyway) to satisfy my ADHD.
  • And lastly, we have completed the long awaited merge. The general chat forum that I previously owned (DiscussionHub.io) has now been merged into Off Topix. It was a small forum, and a lot of the users on DH are also users here. We've gone through and sorted all the content to the best of our ability, but if you notice something isn't quite right, please let us know. It's not exactly apples to apples when it comes to how things were organized between OT and DH, so there's no doubt that some stuff didn't end up in the most logical location.
    • For those that had an account on both OT and DH, we'd like to get your two accounts merged. We went and merged a few of them, but I'm sure there's more. Let us know, and we'll get that taken care of.
    • For those that were registered on DH, but not OT, we are very excited to have you here. I know it is a significant change to just switch forums like this, but if there is anything we can do to help you adjust, let us know.
    • If you were registered on OT, but not DH, no worries. Nothing has changed for you.
  • We will be sending out a mass email to all registered users on DH of this change, but it's probably going to wait until Crystal and I get a little bit of shut eye.
  • I'm sure there's many other things we've done, but man, I'm tired.
Special thanks to @PGen98 for getting the merge taken care of and helping with the fun housekeeping process that happened with it.

I'll echo that sentiment -- if you spot things that are out of place, like a thread in the wrong forum, or a duplicate thread from DH that made it's way to to OT and could do with merging, let us know! We'll take care of it. Things will take time to get 100% fine tuned, but we'll get there!

But as Cam said, after a little shut eye first ;)

I can't seem to purchase any of the current shop items but I'm guessing it's a work in progress :)

Looking forward to the future of OT.
 
I see the layout has changed following the merger (as it no longer has the dark theme). Was that DiscussionHub's theme I assume?

Also, I see the new Chat thing but I don't like seeing the Chat bar at the bottom of the page. Is there a way to hide that? If not, I can zap it away with uBlock Origin (as I've done for the icons to do with it at the top bar).

The dark variants of both themes are still there.

You can disable the chat with that little toggle it has:

Unsure if we're going to keep the sticky thing. May just go back to how the Shoutbox was displayed. Only on the index, at the bottom.

Yeah, I fixed the perms at least. Need to make more items.
 
I've also just installed two add-ons that are supposed to improve the PWA experience. If you haven't already, add OT to your home screen and check it out. Should be able to receive push notifications on whatever device that you are using, whether it's Android, iOS, etc.
 
Just to note, I’ve added OT to my phone screen. For iOS users, it doesn’t seem to play nice with the sticky mobile menu that the Illuminate style has. It wouldn’t let me accept alerts, as the notice cuts off. I just switched to the Wober Legacy style, accepted alerts, and then switched back. Not an ideal solution, but that’s a temporary fix.
 
Can we please have a "new posts" link in the menu? It was there yesterday but it's gone since the changes.
