Sometimes we can have a love/hate relationship with forums.

List the things you love about forums.

List the things you hate about forums.

Love:
-Interacting with people from all over the world.
-It's not live conversations so I can come and go when it's convenient for me.
-Great way to pass the time when I have nothing else to do.

Hate:
-Trolls and trouble makers, spam bots and spammers
-Sometimes cool people (who I look forward to interacting with) suddenly disappear for extended periods of time (or I never see them again)

I love that forums are available all the time, that you can have actual conversations with people in more than 140 characters and ENGAGE on a topic without it turning into a flame war because that's how it works elsewhere. Forums are about civil discourse and I adore that.

I dislike that forums are so much quieter these days than in the days past, they were so incredibly busy and fun in the past...at least OT has a decent level of activity going for it :)

Hate
- How long you sometimes have to wait for a reply (SPECIALLY during the RP days for me)
- Drama that can happen on forums between users, staff, etc

Love
- How you can add an avatar, signature, sometimes custom titles, and change your username color

I am sure I'll think of more.

I love the craíc we have on fora. But I hate overzealous moderators and playground mentality.

I love that there are a wide variety of topics to discuss and a wide variety of different people to hear out.

I hate that they're not as active as they used to be due to social media and I hate when people make fun of people that still use forums because they prioritize social media now, but I've only heard one person my entire life about "losers" using forums instead of social media.

 That person just doesn't know what he's missing. :p

I think that the thing I find most attractive is that I can post, respond, communicate unscheduled, "in my own good time" whenever I'm ready; unlike chat formats. Or other forms of communication, Skype for instance. :)

Agreed thats what I like about it to. :highfive:

I remember back in the early days of the internet and going in live chatrooms. Busy ones you'd get lost and it was so confusing. Who is talking to who? Did someone reply to me? I can't tell if they were referring to a post I made or something else. :P
