I hear you there, it's ok on forums and things like that, but in public, face to face...ugh. My anxiety goes off the scale.Building friendships and relationships primarily. Just speaking out and initiating conversations with strangers, in general, can contribute as well.
Indeed, it's much harder for me to talk face-to-face than online. I feel so awkward talking to the opposite sex and I feel like men are often playing some competition of who can be the most successful.I hear you there, it's ok on forums and things like that, but in public, face to face...ugh. Completely agreed, men always want to one-up one another, I've noticed. I found it easier to talk to women, which I guess makes sense all things considered, but men made me even more anxious because they could easily come across as aggressive in person. Not a fan. Not all men, obviously, I knew and still know many guys who are easy to talk to and don't take things that seriously. I prefer to be approachable, indeed a lot of people do message me in private about things and we just start chatting and it turns into a support option for them and I'm glad I can be that for people. I don't want to scare people off, I'd rather be open and welcoming in who I am, I might still be shaking with anxiety behind my keyboard, but I know how to listen and be a sympathetic earIndeed, it's much harder for me to talk face-to-face than online. Yep, some guys just can't get it through their heads that masculinity is not a measure of how many times you sleep with someone. It's about being a good, accountable person who happens to be male. I was perfectly fine with having never properly slept with a woman prior to coming out, it didn't define me as a person, it was just something that couldn't happen.Yeah, the whole one-upping stuff annoys me and makes me think the people that do such a thing are just ignorant. I just want to live a life that is most comfortable for me. I once sat at a table at work and they were talking about their girlfriends and I said, "I'm 27 and I've never had a girlfriend" and I kid you not, this guy said F-you like 20 times to my face. I told on him for harassment and then he called me a pussy. I hate alpha males that do this type of crap.
Aww, thanksYou are indeed a good listener and sympathetic!
Yeah, some people can be so thick in their thinking. Thankfully, most of these people are the younger generations and as people tend to mature, the one-up game tends to calm down.Yep, some guys just can't get it through their heads that masculinity is not a measure of how many times you sleep with someone. I stand by what I said before, too, if you ever need someone to chat to, my inbox is always open![]()
This is true, it does work its' way out of most (sadly, not all) people as they get older and realize that what might have seemed important in high school/college/etc really doesn't mean a thing when you get into the real world and wasn't worth being a jerk about.Yeah, some people can be so thick in their thinking. Aww
All that 'coolness' fades away eventually. Hopefully, people just realize we're pretty much all equal. This is true, it does work its' way out of most (sadly, not all) people as they get older and realize that what might have seemed important in high school/college/etc really doesn't mean a thing when you get into the real world and wasn't worth being a jerk about.
It takes time, but it does eventually hit most people that hating people or worrying about if they were cool or not is the farthest thing from an adult mind. We're all just people, not matter what we do, what we're going through or what we're into, we are all just people. All that 'coolness' fades away eventually. Yeah, we all have insecurities, anxieties, fears, necessities to keep us alive, faults, etc. We're all just people, not matter what we do, what we're going through or what we're into, we are all just people.
Absolutely! We've all got something that pulls us down, we all need to recognize that and be understanding of one another.Yeah, we all have insecurities, anxieties, fears, necessities to keep us alive, faults, etc.
forum administrators (this is why I've become one myself, to try and become less anxious of them)
