Problem there being if it's money from a heist or money exchanged in ransom it could be serialized. If you start spending that particular cash or try to deposit it...going to look awfully suspicious!Keep it for myself, of course. If I were to hand it over to the police, they'd mock and ridicule me, and keep the money for themselves, so I might as well spare myself the humiliation and walk away richer.

This. I wouldn't want to be caught with potentially dirty money. And I wouldn't want to take it if it was genuinely someone else's who lost it.I'd want to keep it, because who couldn't use that kind of money, but I'd take it to the local police station, report it as found property and hope they were honest enough to hold it until someone came looking.
