At a Norfolk Admirals hockey game, 8-year-old Elizabeth Hughes was doing a bang-up job on The Star-Spangled Banner when her microphone quit.

I think it's lovely. It shows the deep, warm-heartedness of Americans at their best.

The poor little mite is nervous and shaky and rather than let her struggle on unaware and open to ridicule, the warm-hearted crowd support her in song and cheer her efforts at the end. I think it's absolutely brilliant!

You can hear a person laughing when her microphone cuts out. I bet they felt like a clown when everyone else started singing!
