When TV shows/movies get real world facts wrong, does it spoil your impression of the show or ruin your movie experience?

No they dont, they deliver the facts then give their opinions on it. They tend to only report things that benefit the republican party though.

I think in Oceans 11 they purposely had to change one of the laws so that it made sense in the movie. Which was fair enough. I mean I didn't really care. But something that really annoyed me was the Young Ones, where Rick had a party and this guy came along said, Is this tobacco...or Pink Floyd? By that time I think they were up to the concept albums, so much for being new age anarchists. Everyone likes a different era but for some reason it really annoyed me.

For example like 10,000 BC they like got some of the creatures in the wrong timeline. Terror Birds died out by the time man appeared. And also Sabre Tooth Cats shouldn't have the same coloring or hue as a Tiger.

Another famous example is like say Jurassic Park movies where some of the dinosaurs have biological issues. Like say pteranodon has such large teeth, by right it should be having a stiff neck or a broken neck becos the teeth are so large and heavy. Even my cousin was able to point this out.

There are other real world facts that in Movies that are so obviously its wrong that the audience can quickly point this out.

Fox News is a news channel--like MSNBC or CBS or whatever--each network puts their own spin on whatever they report--if you want the 'facts' check out Fox News, then CBS or MSNBC and divide in half--that's about right. lol

As far as TV shows and movies getting history wrong---it absolutely drives me crazy. It sometimes makes me so irritated that I'll change the channel, rather than just yell at the TV....That wasn't in the Civil War you idiot!!! It hadn't been invented yet!!! Absolutely can't stand it....

Oh and I was listening to Hurricane by Bob Dylan, he's got a lot of the facts wrong. Very...exaggerated use of poetic license I guess. And the Other Boleyn Girl...Henry VIII is meant to really big and commanding, especially for his time. That Aussie guy who plays him is DOING IT WRONG.

Also not just science fact somethings in movies tend to exaggerate the physics of things.

We were watching Rambo last weekend (the second one, where he went to Vietnam and saved some POW's) anyway, at the end of the movie, there's a huge air battle between two helicopters.

Rambo's chopper is pretty beat up and they think they're going down. The Russian guy comes in for the kill, and sees Rambo apparently unconscious in the chopper. So he comes in close and Rambo jumps up, throws a RPG (rocket propelled genade) to his shoulder and hits the Russian, blowing up the bad guys, so the good guys can make their escape.

An RPG (if you don't know) is almost like a hand held cannon. It's a tube that is open on both ends, because as the grenade goes out the front, there is exhaust in the form of flames coming out the back (think about a rocket or the Space Shuttle being launched) Hubby is watching and says--I sure hope that noone is in the cargo hold behind him, (which is where the pow's were) because they just got blown up.

Yes, it's really irritating.

No. Simply because if I am watching a movie or tv show, it is for entertainment. If I want research, then I'll either do the research my self, or I'll watch a documentary, or learning channel where they have to have their facts straight.

If there is any exaggeration in tv shows or movies, it is for entertainment value, and the wow factor. The movie makers know that this isn't the case in real life, and that is why they go over the top in movies. Otherwise, the movies and tv shows wouldn't be as entertaining and everyone would be complaining that the movies and shows are too real, and are in need of some imagination.

One big example is gigantic Birds.... That one has got to get into people's heads..

Now, Birds used two feet to take off from the ground.. So if the birds have short legs in proportion to its size.... and it's the size of a airplane like in LOTR. It will have to take off from a high point but most fiction out there think that they can take off from the ground....

In reality, their legs will crumble beneath their weight.

Ok to argument further, you might say well, Pterosaurs got to giant sizes.... Well I will explain another time if someone replies.

it depends on the movie. if it's so stupid that a little kid can point it out, than it's stupid. but if it's really, really obscure, it's ok then.

It just depends on the movie, and the facts.. sometimes they stretch them a bit, but who cares.. it's a freaking movie..

Sometimes dinosaurs look different based on research done by other people.. not all of the dinosaurs are going to look the same simply because we have no clue sometimes what they really look like. It's a guess..

So what if they don't look like what a show says.. it's a freaking movie...

Now, with that being said, a new channel shouldn't stretch the truth, nor favor a certain party which is what most do anyways. You can't just blame FOX you have to blame them all, because in reality most of the channels support a certain group.

I generally don't mind bending the laws of physics in movies, or getting a couple of things wrong.

However, it really drives me up a tree when a classic literary work gets neutered. Troy is one of the main offenders. The fact that there's a war is one of the only things in the movie that actually happened in Greek mythology. And every inaccuracy is just there so Achilles'/Brad Pitts biceps can be on screen longer.

Man I hate that film.
