Atheists believe this. Is this disturbing? Well, one atheist said "Nature Doesn't Owe US Anything", so are many people being whiny?

Myself, I mostly don't believe this, but there's always doubt in my mind

Not all of us. I cannot speak for other Atheists, but I do believe in "Eternal Oblivion" upon death. I don't see it as disturbing, but rather a liberation from a life well lived.
For many atheists, "eternal oblivion", represents the cessation of consciousness and existence after death. It is a view supported by naturalism and modern neuroscience which posits that consciousness is a function of the brain. This perspective doesn't involve experiencing an afterlife but a return to the non-existence before birth, as the mind is seen as dependent on a functioning brain. Rather than an empty threat, this view can be seen as a liberation, prompting a focus on the meaning and value of the single life lived on Earth.

I don't like eternal oblivion but it makes more sense when looking at the universe. The other option is where humans believe they are super special.

But then again, I have seen that the spirit world Christians speak of is real, so humans are special.

I'm quite sure demons torment people and prayer shuts them off instantly, so that's sort of proof in the Bible there.

I'm someone who needs hard, physical evidence. You can tell me all you want there's a heaven and hell, but if there's no proof, all you're doing is talking out of your ass. People can have blind faith all they want, but science and logic don't care about faith. Now, I will say, if my mom is right and someday jesus comes down and take all his followers away - well holy shit now I believe! But until or if that day happens, it's all made up words in a book.

Not all can be explained with science and logic, but those things (science and logic) are good in they encourage "sane spirituality", not middle ages era burning at the stake stuff.

If it can't be explained or proven real, it's made up hokus pokus.

The stuff I've watched news stories about is so horrible it can't be explained by mental illness.
