Off Topix: Embrace the Unexpected in Every Discussion
Off Topix is a well established general discussion forum that originally opened to the public way back in 2009! We provide a laid back atmosphere and our members are down to earth. We have a ton of content and fresh stuff is constantly being added. We cover all sorts of topics, so there's bound to be something inside to pique your interest. We welcome anyone and everyone to register & become a member of our awesome community.
Note: I enjoy forum systems and I am not trying to put them down.
Why do you folks on Off Topix prefer Forums over other means of communication? Why use Off Topix.net besides Facebook, Twitter, Reddit, InsertSiteHere.
I prefer my privacy while Facebook is not interested in that.
I prefer making a response with more then 140 characters and with enough of an attempt at the English language to illustrate I went to school at some point in my life. Twitter rather see to it that I butcher the language so much that it stops looking like i even saw a school much less been in one.
I found Reddit to be a confusing place to navigate during the few time I been there so I don't care for it.
Forums are just a better way to be more personal with others and to build friendships while maintaining a reasonable amount of privacy.

Frankly I agree with all of this. Sadly a large amount of users [especially those ranging from 16-24] care less and less about privacy I feel. The large majority is fine with a lack of "privacy" and they don't see the need for "handles" and "avatars".

This. Forums are much more personal and require more use of your brain. It's easy to type 140 characters in a Twitter response, but even Facebook shuns you--in a way--if you're typing a wall of text. People don't use the site to read long, drawn out, thoughtful paragraphs someone took a while to write up like they would do on a forum. Forums allow you to delve deeper, and that's what I appreciate.

I, also, agree with everything Bluezone777 said in his reply. Just wanted to add that Off Topix feels more like a family to me than it does a forum. I have met and made friends with people from all over the world. How great is that, eh?

I agree with all of this. I remember back in the day's of forums. When it was the most popular thing on the internet. It was this family even if you had 10 members. Everyone was a family and even though things could get out of hand people did "rage" quit when they got mad.
I prefer to learn and earn something in forums, I do not find thrill with out earning in any site. So feel thrill day to day seeing my progress in earnings.
