Why FA Closed ?

why FA closed ? lot of ppl talking about FA

Where? ...Also this was a forum that existed over 5 years ago :P

Forum Advertiser was a forum I used to run but had to close for financial and personal problems I was having at the time. I suppose you could say it was a relatively large forum, but Off Topix has grown larger than FA was.

What Nebulous said above is correct. I was a member of Forum Advertiser before it and The Island closed, forums which were both founded and owned by Nebulous himself. He made the decision to put his family first and I respect that decision.

Later he opened Off Topix, which was inspired and is a blend of both forums. As awesome as those forums were, Off Topix is better thanks to both of them and what they meant to the forum community. They will always be remember by all of us who knew about them.

i am sorry i don't know that u need to closed down both forums coz financial problems.

So, I'm curious, who are these "lots of people" talking about my old dead forums? :P

Any reason why you decided to close it down and not sell it to someone else?

I remember the name but not much else and I recall being a member of FA and the Island but I don't really recall being all that active on either. Ad forums are so difficult to run that once you get out from under the obligation so to speak of running it is when you really realize just how taxing it is to run it. I don't know why anyone would be so eager to take on such a forum when there are so many other genres that are far easier to manage then an ad forum.

It was a lot of work and stress, to the point I really didn't enjoy it anymore. I mean, who would think "advertising" day in and day out for a couple years would be a fun hobby? Plus it seemed like there was a lot more human spammers and dramatic people around back then creating conflicts... But that's not the reason I closed it and FA leaving the net was a good thing (in a way) because Off Topix was born later on. 4 years later we're still here! This truly is a great community. :)

Yes it is Nebulous. Well said.

I am very sad that you have closed your earlier forum, but glad that again you decided to give something similar back to the community after coming up from the issues, which is a good thing in its own.

I remember that forum, but vaugely. I like this forum much better though, and this site has gotten bigger than FA was if memory serves me right.

It has!

I suppose if we're sharing our experiences about the forums, I wasn't the head-cheese and best member of Forum Advertiser like I am here, but I was a member. I think I made somewhere around fifty posts over a span of a couple of months. I used it to advertise my websites, blah, blah, and blah.

Ultimately though, it didn't leave nearly the impression that Off Topix has.
