These are the reasons why I hate some forums:

  • People who take their forums down just to do a few minor things, such as changing the theme. Why not do all your upgrades and major overhauls on a test forum then it only takes a few minutes to change on the real forum. These people usually never re-open their sites up and are just using it as an excuse to leave their site.

  • This doesn't happen on this forum but, it does happen on other forums.Moderators on their high horse and believe they can do whatever they want.Just because your a mod doesn't mean your can abuse your power.Banning people because they disagree with you is messed up.

  • Suck ups.You can spot them a mile away, these are the members that suck up to admins and moderators. They usually say something is breaking the rules, when in reality it's not.

  • Admins who don't take care of their site.As in they rarely post and enhance the community.

  • Admins who make a billion gazillion forums, then closing them all down the next week and then, re-opening them the next month. Why not just stick to ONE forum that you might actually manage.

What do you hate about some forums?

I hate forums which are run by people who think they are the dogs danglies.

I hate being constantly asked to contribute money to the running cost of the forum.

And I hate it when you are constantly ignored despite making a decent contribution.

I've just stopped posting at one forum for those reasons.

A lot of the same things.

I hate people who run forums and act like they know it all and think they are right all of the time. I have some perfect examples.

All of that, plus more. But to top it all off, really immature Admins.

Pretty good list right there.

Everything mentioned so far, really. I get the feeling that most of those stem from younger members. XD

Some, yes. But I've also met some really intelligent members who surprise me with age. Sure, many people fourteen or fifteen do not have the capability to be a positive asset on a forum, some do.

Right. Those rare cases are great fun, because they'll contribute good posts to a discussion.

Poor functionality; I like a site to be relatively easy to navigate

Ones that are run by VerticalScope where all the requirements on this thread

Those are some really good reasons to hate forums. For me I really dislike when there are a lot of posts and threads but there is no value to the content. It's easy to post and to spam but to actually add value takes a little more time. Plus when admins/staff don't actually pay attention to the posts or just post to post and don't care what the members have to say.

All of those are solid reasons to hate some forums. I agree, I don't like being pressured to pay for something that is 'free' if I want to donate that's one thing. But to be pressured is another.
It's always very frustrating when you dedicate a lot of time and energy to a forum, add good content and value to the site and then being ignored.
