Microsoft announced the successor to the Xbox 360 and it's called Xbox One. More details over on The Verge.

What do you all think?

No backwards compatibility? They'd better get a load of games quickly then. Though I suppose they are.

Definitely looks like it'll last a while specs-wise.

Dont really like the name but it looks like its going to be a good system!

Not really interested by the name alone. Will have to look a bit more into it to determine whether or not I'm interested.

I'll probably buy it at some point, but given all the issues many of these consoles have upon release, I might wait at least a year or two.

The system looks sleek, but if they don't want to incorporate a gaming sense into the system at all, why would anyone buy it?

Crap name, boring design, looks like a patchwork box, same horrible dashboard, kinect sounds more complex but doubt it will work like they said, lots of features that don't envolve much gaming.

Controller does look nice though.

Thought they would have came up with a better name, looks really good though :)

So these are the facts as we know it.

The Xbox One will charge a fee for any game which has been used on a different console.
Microsoft will force Indie Developers to be part of a publishing deal if they want their games on the Xbox One.
The Xbox One will not be able to function without Kinect.
It's 500GB hard drive can not be removed or replaced.
The Xbox One will not be backwards compatible.
And while it's not always online yet Microsoft have stated that it may go always online "depending on the experience"

The more that gets announced for this console the more insulting it is. It's the biggest joke that the gaming industry has seen since the Phillips CDi.

Not really impressed with it. What I find more amusing is Sony, Microsoft and game developer representatives coming out and saying these consoles will surpass high-end PC's. What a load of crap...
