Have you ever been banned from a forum?

How and why did it happen?

Was it an unfair ban or do you think you deserved it?

From a forum which was MY creation. A co-admin was the author of that ban. And it was unfair. Since I was the founder of that forum, I reverted the ban and banned that user in return.

You were banned from your own forum? ...I hope Jazzy doesn't ban me :run:

jk :P

Seems like the whole staff here was banned from a certain forum. Like any of us wanted anything to do with a sunken ship to begin with! Ain't no treasure to be found there only a dead sea.

an American run model forum, quite a big one, heard it talked about by a few people so i joined

straight away i started to get little warnings attached to every post i made, but no explaination as to why, just a note to rule such and such

so i asked the question

someone messaged me, seems the admin had a thing about rules (which he of course had made), so i read them....lots things about bad grammer and spelling, if you posted pictures they had to be in focus and un cluttered...even had examples of what was acceptable! and it seemed he had took a dislike to the fact that when im on a forum i rarely use capital letters.......just one of those habits i have....so i mentioned in the same thread that i had asked the question that i couldnt help it as it was just a habit, and it would have been nice to be told of my misdmenour not just be expected to work it out

next time i logged in i found myself not just banned but deleted, all my posts had vanished...and my isp blocked!

i happened to mention this on the forum where im a moderator and a fellow mod said similar had happened to him at the same place when he had gone to the defence to of someone who didnt have english as their language so was struggling

but karma is a bitch ..........a year later that forum closed suddenly...and a lot of people, including that admin joined the forum where im a mod :halo:

I was banned from a gaming forum once. The admins there were/are a bunch of ignorant people. They banned me for helping out a hated member of their community start his own forum. Supposedly, I was "kissassing".

Oh heck yes. I was a bit of a troll in my younger days. Now, not so much as it doesn't seem worth it anymore, but there was a time when I used to frequent Final Fantasy forums, specifically one called "ACF" or Advent Children Forums. Don't ask. It was a nightmare, and there were so many corrupt and rude and mean people on the forum. At that point, I wasn't a troll, but I was banned for very unfair reasons when a new reign of admins/global mods took hold. In any case, that's in the past, but I have been banned for being a troll, which was obviously my fault. :3

I have been banned from a few forums for one reason or another, all unjustified in my eyes. A lot of admin's out there are irrational and on a power trip. Usually I'll check back on a forum with an admin like that after some time has passed and I'll see a ghost town or a closed forum.

Oh dear lord where do I even begin?
Once upon a time there was forum called Aqworlds Zone Forum
Or AZF
Join the forum after merge with it predcessor dwarfhold forum
Which btw still exist today never offically closed down in fact
But back on subject on hand
Back during 2011-2012 when was young or kid
The forum activity started go down hill.i foretold that one day it shutdown
But didn't help that staff were immature for the time
I made topic "these are not swears" or something or the like
I made mistakes before this was third strike the. Was banned and then made things worst by crated new accounts just fit back in
Then things lead to another
Oh i did forget minson that they banned founder of the forum?
THE FREAKING FOUNDER
Anywho
then may 2012 AZF shutdown for good
It was disaster to begin with
Forum staff was runned by immature teens
End of story

Have you ever been banned from a forum?
Yes, I was banned from a forum I was an administrator of. Once promoted, the owner abandoned the forum entirely, leaving me in charge.

How and why did it happen?
This happened several years ago when I first pursued an interest in magic tricks and I discovered this magic discussion forum. I shortly was invited to become a moderator, and after a couple months I was promoted to administrator. One of the moderators did not like that I had been selected over him, and subsequently he contacted the owner with false allegations that resulted in my demotion and ban.

Was it an unfair ban or do you think you deserved it?
Utterly unfair. The owner did not even contact me, nor did he respond to any of my emails following the ban. The only explanation I received was from the moderator, who informed me he intentionally set out to get me demoted to open up the availability for becoming an administrator.

Shortly after I was fired/demoted/banned, the forum went to ruins, as I had established much trust and deep rooted relationships with fellow magic lovers.

I don't believe I have ever been banned on a forum before? At least not that I can recall back to anyway.

If I have been banned or deleted from a forum I probably wouldn't know it cause I more than likely haven't visited said forum :P

Also it seems there are some people out there that shouldn't be given any kind of power because, like I have read in previous posts, they tend to ban people just because of a small rule being broken or something silly and also the way it is gone about is rather pathetic.

Anyway that is my ramble :P

I've been banned before. Once. I was a good acquaintance with the admin and he put me up as a moderator. We got into it. He banned me. It was a personal dispute.

As far as I know, never. I have left every single forum I've been a member of, though, for various reasons, mostly due to:

- Unwarranted hostility from other members. I express my opinion on some random topic, they disagree and launch a barrage of personal attacks on me with an obvious intention to either forcibly make me concede to their viewpoint or to chase me away, thus getting rid of opposition. Either worked for them, so I simply left.

- Unwarranted hostility from the staff members for the same or similar reasons. Apparently, disagreeing with an administrator(s) is the 8th deadly sin. Might always makes right, so I left.

- Inactivity on the side of other members, both staff and regular. Not much to do on a dead forum, amirite?

- Had a problem I couldn't solve on my own, registered on a forum where I figured I'd get some help, asked for help, got it (or not), and left, since I had no interest in sticking around and becoming an active member. I bit lame of me to just grab the goodies & leave, but eh. At least I was polite and made sure to express my gratitude before I left, so I'm not such a bad person after all.

I can take a guess and believe it is a forum that I am a member of. If so, that would be most disappointing but not surprising in the least. The admin in question isn't exactly the forgiving type so I can see why they wouldn't want you around there. It would be rather hypocritical to do the very things I seen this person complain about others doing like banning people for personal reasons outside of the listed rules or banning people for simply associating with a certain person that they didn't like. I might be mistaken though so not sure if I have the right forum in mind so I suppose Nebulous can correct me if that is the case.

Me and @Webster got banned recently from a forum simply for inquiring about / commenting on the admin giving me the silent treatment. :whistles:

They ran me off their forum as well and treated me however they wanted when it was convenient for them. When I messaged this person on Forum Promotion and encouraged them to make amends, they ignored me. Funny how they think it's okay to ask me questions in my thread on Forum Promotion when they conveniently answer me or ignore me. I'll just give them the exact same treatment they gave you by ignoring them.

I confess, I'm guilty of having trolled him in the past on here many many times. Neb could have banned me. He chose not to. Disagree with this particular administrator and you may find yourself banned from their community. I disagreed with them many times and I got run off for it. Even shadow banned for a while. I eventually had my account deleted after 8 thousand posts, and I chose to have that done. I was sick of how they treat and ban people. There were people banned on there that I was friends with that I didn't even know they were banned for a while. Webster certainly didn't deserve how he was treated. He had over 15 thousand posts on there and all he did was tell them they were in the wrong. But you can't do that on that "forum".

I registered on a Seniors forum recently and got locked out before I'd even posted . Guess they didn't like the look of my username!
