Hello!

For those who don't know I'm staff at Youmacon!

Not really high up, just one of the busy little worker bees.

However I was wondering if anyone was planning to maybe go to Youmacon this year?

For anyone who can make it I hope that you have fun!

If you have already gone in the past what did you like or dislike about it?

To be honest, I'd never heard of it.

And, evidently, nobody else had either.

So perhaps a bit on in line information:

Youmacon is not only Detroit's first and only Anime Convention, it's also one of the fastest growing fan conventions in the country! Last year over 12,000 individuals came to enjoy our 24 hour programming, great industry guests, cosplay contests, and our Battle Opera tournament – making Youmacon the only event to fill the massive 73 floor Detroit Marriott at the Renaissance Center – Twice.

Detroit, MI October 31 - November 3

Lol, guess I should have included a bit more info than just the webpage. XD

Well interesting fact. At last years convention there was not a single McDonlad's French Fry to be found in the entire Detroit area because we cleaned them out.

There are many things to see:

Cosplays: We have cosplayers of all types come for the event. Many of the cosplays done were only permitted in the Marriott and Cobo Centers. Seeing as outside the convention center grounds they would have been arrested for indecent exposure, many cosplayers had to cover up for the walk from the one building to the other. We have cosplay contests and skits performed before a live audience including many actual voice actors who attend and sign autographs.

The Events: Our Events have ratings on them because many of our events are not appropriate for younger children (and yes we do often get young kids with their parents who attend). They range from discussion boards, debate rooms, to games etc. We have an entire floor just dedicated to gaming of all natures. Artists Alley features artworks and crafts from fans.

Important Notes: Even though this is an anime convention we don't just feature anime events. My Little Pony was a big hit last year, as well as many Adventure Time fans attended.

Safety Notes: With events running 24/7 safety is a major concern. So if you do plan to attend always travel with a buddy (especially at night). Keep an eye on your items and personal possessions at all times. We have thousands of people who attend this thing who all have interests in the same things. So that Inyuasha wall scroll you just perchased got sat down for a moment... Yea it's gone. O.o

Anyway, if you like anime it's a fun place to be.

Bit far away, I'm afraid :P

Not if you take a plane!

My Little Pony and Adventure Time are certainly proving to be quite popular these days.
