Did you receive pocket-money/an allowance when you were a child?

Was it enough for you?

What did you usually spend it on?

£2 a week, spent it on sweets :D

Never got anything, we grew up super poor / on welfare. Sometimes my mom would give me a couple of her food stamps and I could get something from the ice cream man.

Been there more than a couple of times in life. It's not fun, at all!
It wasn't so bad, all my friends were poor too so it felt normal to us.

I had video games thanks to Christmas / birthday gifts from family.
We still had cable tv. No matter how broke my mom was, she always made that a priority. :tv:

That's true, if it's what you know it's not so bad, and there are fun times mixed in with the struggles.

That's prioritizing right there! lol. Granted, back then cable was worth the expense!

It was expensive too! We even had HBO and Cinemax. :tv:

Damn, we never had HBO or Cinemax! Too expensive!
"Too expensive" totally depends on what your parents were willing to spend money on. If you prioritize things then you can afford it. Sure you might be eating peanut butter and jelly or top ramen for dinner sometimes, but at least you have movies to watch! :p

Fair enough, I stuck with bread sandwiches and still didn't have movies to watch, lol

Mmmm speaking of that, one poor person snack I used to have all the time was toasted bread, put margarine or butter on it and then sprinkle on the cinnamon / sugar mixture I made.

Absolutely! That was amazing! We also did toast sandwiches, literally one piece of bread toasted, two pieces not toasted with butter, toast in the middle, voila. Surprisingly tasty!

Hmm, never done that. It just sounds like you were eating 3 pieces of bread at once. :p

Mostly, yeah, but you know how slightly overdone toast takes on a different taste? Not blackened toast, but well done? That on bread with butter is surprisingly tasty :D
I suppose I'd have to try it. :D

I vaguely remember pooling money from piggy banks with friends to buy little troll dolls lol.
