I'll explain how this came about: I know someone with a parrot who they called peter and I really don't think peter the parrot is a good name

I prefer things like sandy, or treasure, or something like that. something themed to a pirate

No because pirates aren't the only people to have parrots and I'm not a pirate. I'd call mine Tomas after my avatar although I cannot have a bird due to respiratory issues.

Sure if the name fit the bird. When I name a pet I spend a little time with them first and try to feel out their vibe before naming them. If I sense a pirate vibe from the parrot then sure.

I don't believe in promoting stereotypes about birds. Maybe they don't want to be pidgeonholed (omfg) to that profession. If I ever die, it'll be because I got rid of all my white blood cells for not being diverse enough.
