Off Topix is a well established general discussion forum that originally opened to the public way back in 2009! We provide a laid back atmosphere and our members are down to earth.     Guests should be able to view public forums but not post. It allows them to become familiar with a forum community. Forum posting, and member-only forums, should be available only on registration.

    Established. New only if I feel the administrator is genuinely dedicated and savvy with managing a community.

    Content & community interaction, hands down. I've seen attractive forums using great software with no content. Style without substance cannot create a community.

    My thoughts would be that they don't genuinely care for the community. One forum I know of with 150,000+ members has a founding admin who still checks in every day to respond to feedback, suggestions and site questions. Most of his own threads are about introducing new features or the latest...

    Certainly one of the more mature discussion forums I have seen around. Good luck with it.
