    I personally start by lurking. If I see content that interests me I'll then move to registering and making an introduction. After all of that is done I immediately reply to the threads that caught my attention in the first place. From there hopefully I've started a good relationship with staff...

    I know what you mean, I had the same mentality.. Unfortunately being an ass got me the most attention, even if it wasn’t “good” attention. I guess it’s like being famous in day-to-day life. A lot of famous celebrities are famous for the wrong reasons.
