If you just won a million dollars, would you quit your job?

Probably not, although I might go down to part-time (so that I'm not bored rather than for the money!)

Good luck with your jobsearch, Dino.

I'd probably stick around for a bit, but yeah, I'd eventually quit. Here's my thinking:

Short term: I wouldn't just walk out immediately. A million sounds like a lot, but after taxes you're looking at maybe $600-700k depending on where you live. That's not exactly "never work again" money, especially with inflation these days.

Medium term: I'd probably use the breathing room to transition into something I actually want to do. Maybe start that side project I've been putting off, go back to school, or just take some time to figure out what I'm passionate about without the pressure of needing a paycheck.

Long term: Yeah, I'd probably leave my current job. But I'd want to do something meaningful with my time - maybe freelance work I enjoy, volunteer, or start a small business. The money would give me the freedom to be pickier about opportunities.

The real game-changer would be investing most of it wisely. If I could get even a modest return, that passive income plus doing work I actually care about (even if it pays less) would be way better than grinding at a job I'm not passionate about just for the salary.

What about you? Would you peace out immediately or play it safe?
