Little town called Ashburton south of Christchurch :) But I have spent most of my life in Christchurch plus a couple months in Auckland which I found far too big before a year in Wellington then back to the South Island.

Ah nice nice, I am originally from South Auckland. Spent most of my Intermediate years and all of my high school years in Tauranga before moving to Palmerston North. I have almost been here 20 years now, which is amazing as I never thought I would be here so long.

Auckland is far too big! :(
Scarlet Rose
I was only there until I was 12, but I do agree that it is really big. My family moved around a lot while I was growing up, there is so much variety and difference. Since then if I went it was usually for a very specific thing, so I didn't see much of Auckland at all. Christchurch is quite nice though, I visited it at the end of 2009 for a few days and really enjoyed it.

So before the quakes. Christchurch has definitely changed.

We lived in Papakura when we were in Auckland and it was a half an hour walk to the train station (No buses around that suburb) and then about an hours train ride into the Auckland CBD. It got so tiring.

Yeah, I was fortunate I visited before the earthquake. I can't imagine what it would be like to live through such devastation.

It can be quite draining trying to travel around Auckland like that. I am fortunate I was too young when I lived there, and didn't really get an interest in malls till I moved to Palmy. Although that was because I lived a 10min walk away.
