    Closed Down Restaurants

What's a restaurant that your area used to have that you absolutely LOVED but has since closed down? In my area, we had an S&Bs Burgers. They had specialty burgers with loaded fries. I miss that place more than any other restaurant we've had in the past. How about you all?

    Chit Chat Zone

Weekends are my days off and days we disconnect and get out in nature - been doing that for the past 7 years now!

Are you still eager to start a new forum?

I always enjoyed starting a new forum. I loved getting that first member, setting things up, etc. I used to love it so much that I made forum after forum and eventually burned myself out! Now I have two, and that's all I want.

Have you ever lost interest in your forum?

I have in the past. I tried doing another admin forum again last year. But it seems like if you put a lot of forum admins in one spot (who use different software), they can't get along and you're having to babysit and deal with drama too much. So, I'm going to stay away from the admin niche...

    Most annoying age group?

0 to 5... it's the loudest, especially babies. I'm a stepfather not a father of biological children so I don't share the love of infants as those of you who have had kids LOL When I hear them scream at the restaurant for example, I cringe! But I understand that's part of growing up, I'm sure I...

    Inside Appalachia

I totally agree. I'm not from or living over there. I live in southern Illinois and generally outsiders say we're redneck and mainly inbred hicks. We're definitely country compared to the rest of Illinois and we have a southern draw but we're just as normal as anyone else. I feel the same way...

What's your worst experience with any particular drink?

Dead Guy Ale... Tasted like it was brewed in a barrel with a dead guy LOL Horrible ale!

    Cross-site punishments

Definitely something like that. But if one member and a forum owner got into it and they want to get them banned everywhere - maybe not something like that which I would assume is probably more likely what happens.

    I'm leaving!

I'm in the same boat. If I leave the forum, then I left because I obviously got the hint that I wasn't wanted there to begin with. Chances are that won't happen because I typically only join those where I feel I'll be welcomed based on a simple review of it.

Pay to be a member forums

I paid to be a member of a community that costed me about $600 a year. I felt it was worth it. I'm now the community manager making more than that each year. But there was to be extreme value for any paid community to work or it won't work.

Getting paid to post on forums

Somewhat. I'm the community manager at Copyblogger.com. I get paid to do it. But I'm also required to engage members, network members, and even do monthly zoom meetings with them. It's work. Posting on the discussion feature of the community platform (Circle) is a part of the job. So, yeah...

    Attention Seekers

Some people want attention, and that attention makes their life good. As long as nothing extremely negative is taking place or causing drama, I'm fine with people being extra social to get attention. But if you're threatening your own safety or something like that, I'll have to restrict your...

    I'm leaving!

I used to delete these posts and the members who posted them. Nowadays, as long as the post isn't dramatic, I think I would leave it be and let the account remain. They might come back anywho right?

    Cross-site punishments

That's really an interesting question. I guess if it's a bad enough violation that preventing it will help your forum more than having to deal with it when it happens - then maybe? But the violation happening would have to be really bad.

    Posting fatigue

I get into posting moods. When I'm not in the mood to post, I don't post. That's my best advice to folks.

    WoltLab Burning Board Forum Software

I feel like I've used it back in the past. Maybe when it was a little cheaper. Back then, it wasn't bad software but it typically wasn't as popularly used as the three main paid ones, vb-ipb-xf.

When you disagree with someone, can you stay calm? Or do you get emotional?

I try to stay calm and figure out how there is a disagreement. Mostly it would happen at work. In the line of work I do now, I would then resort to investigating unless it was from my director and then I feel we would work together better to figure out how we could meet in the middle unless I...

Are women more emotional than men?

I think women are better at letting out their emotions and asking for help than we are. And maybe not all, for sure. But I know from experience, I am bad at telling anyone when I'm upset. I'll hold it in. Of course, I know some women are the same way. But for the ones who are emotional...

    Your goal for the day

Finish writing an article. As soon as I quit playing on forums, haha, I'll get that done.

    Forum Exodus

I've seen it happen on forums that I was a member of. I've never had it happen to one of my own. I think at that point; it's safe to say that the admin lost control of their community. At that point, the community might not have been meant to be a community.
