  1. Barbie (2023)

Do they have the Aqua song in it?
  2. Are you on Truth Social App?

No, I haven't joined the platform and don't have any intention of doing so. I don't tend to be very active on those kind of media to begin with. I can't imagine I would fit in very well given the perceived political persuasion of that community.
  3. If your best friend threatened you with a gun?

It would really depend on the circumstances and what their plans were going forward. There could be any number of reasons for them to pull something like that. If they were going to take sincere steps to address the issue, such as getting professional help, then I would remain friends with them...
  4. AI and deception on the political trail

Yep, the differences between Obama on the campaign trail and when he took presidency would definitely be one of them. He presented himself as a lot more left leaning and progressive than how he served his terms as president. Including times when the Democrats controlled both chambers. But it is...
  5. Gex Trilogy

It isn't a series that I ever played myself but I was happy to hear about the announcement. It was one of those series that I remember reading about in gaming magazines and always wanted to play but the opportunity never presented itself for me. So I am definitely anticipating playing all 3. It...
  6. AI and deception on the political trail

The part of it I found more troubling was how it could potentially enable them to better tailor their lies based on individual browsing histories. I am not going to pretend there isn't deceit happening at the moment. Whether this comes from overpromising or outright lying, it isn't something I...
  7. AI and deception on the political trail

Interesting article on the implications and consequences that utilization of AI could have for political campaigns. Given what we have seen from the utilization of social media and how political ads have often had a questionable relationship with reality I wouldn't be surprised if it did play...
  8. Economic sanctions are a crime against humanity

Economic sanctions are often enforced against countries under the reasoning that it is a more humane way of getting their respective government to change. This can include the government changing course or even trying to convince the populace themselves to get rid of the government. Sanctions...
  9. The Right's War on Free Speech

From the Red Scare, though Political Correctness, and to today's Woke Politics we have continuously seen an effort by those on the right to silence and neutralize political voices from the left. The attempt by a right wing group to use the courts to silence a left wing podcast is just the latest...
  10. Subject you don't want discussed at the table while you eat?

I was initially really surprised to see politics being mentioned so often as subjects people don't want discussed while eating. It hadn't even occurred to me that this was a potential subject up for nomination when I saw the thread. I think my bigger issue is if I am taken by surprise. I don't...
  11. Love a clone?

This topic was nothing like I thought it would be based on the title. When I read that I thought it was going to be about whether you could love a clone of yourself.  As for the topic, no, I agree with Neb and Wes that they wouldn't be the same person.
  12. Reverse Mask Mandate

I am not sure I even fully understand or appreciate the point of implementing this ban. What demographics usually shop at that burger chain? Wondering if this is more reflective of the political persuasion of the owners or their customer base.
  13. Is it okay to break the law?

Yes, I do think that there are circumstances where it is okay to break the law. This applies to cases where the law is out of touch with normal lived experiences and the consequences that would result from breaking it are approaching non existent. But also to cases where the law itself in...
  14. Pet goat slaughtered and served at community BBQ

Thank you, that makes a lot more sense now. I am pretty sure we have similar programs in the country here in New Zealand. It sounds like quite a positive and fulfilling initiative. Both helping with the development of children and better integrating them into community life. I am still mystified...
  15. Target or Walmart?

Haha yeah, we also have our own variants here in New Zealand too. Most of which admittedly didn't come from New Zealand. The Warehouse is the only one off the top of my head which did originate here. I mostly shop from out online stores these days anyway.
  16. Is renting better than owning?

There are circumstantial situations in which renting can be better than owning, however I think that in general owning is better. On a wider more societal level wider ownership is more positive than renting as I don't think that housing is something which should be directed towards profiteering.
  17. What would you have been called if you were the opposite gender?

Yes! That is the one! Not sure why I randomly remembered him though. I mean my ex is called Yuna and during our 3 year relationship I never once remembered the Final Fantasy character. Yet in this brief exchange I remember a character much less central to the respective franchise.
  18. What would you have been called if you were the opposite gender?

That would be amazing though if they went by that full username. Axel is a good name though. Isn't that a Kingdom Hearts character?
  19. What would you have been called if you were the opposite gender?

Really? I think "If I was born in the right body I would have been named Paul. But Axel is a much cooler name and that's why I went with Axel. :p" is a little bit long to be a username. 😅 😅 Same here, it had never occurred to me to ask. It also isn't really possible for me to do so now.
  20. Target or Walmart?

Neither of them are in New Zealand and I am going to be honest with you, I am not going to book a return flight to a country which has either of them just to shop there. 😅 😅
