    Interesting thought. Are you suggesting people may have escaped the plane on their own after it 'crash landed' on water? It's not impossible, I guess, but don't they have life boats? Even someone on MH17 that was shot down managed to get the oxygen mask around their neck.

    Obviously ratings. I don't know about in the US, but here well over 99.9% of things look better in the ads/general publicity they receive. Though, I still definitely think they've taken reasonable caution with the guys safety.
