Some people are the worst.

Like most little girls, three-year-old Samara is a big fan of Frozen. So when her mum, Rachel Muir, took her to a Disney-themed event at a shopping centre in Melbourne, there was only one outfit she wanted to wear – her Princess Elsa costume.

But unfortunately for Samara and her mother, their day out wasn’t as magical as they were expecting.

Talking to Australian newspaper The Courier, her mother Rachel Muir explained: ‘The lady in front of us turned around to Samara and said ‘I don’t know why you’re dressed up for because Queen Elsa isn’t black’,’

She went on to explain that when she confronted the woman, one of her two young daughters echoed her racist thoughts: ‘I asked the woman what she meant by the comment and then one of the woman’s young daughters screwed up her face, she pointed at Samara and said ‘you’re black and black is ugly’.’

Although Rachel and Samara stood strong and refused to let the attack ruin their day, Rachel explained that in the days after Samara became withdrawn and at one point even asked her ‘why am I black’.

Samara didn’t want to attend her Aboriginal dance class after the attack

This prompted Rachel to write about the incident on Facebook, commenting ‘Racism is alive & well in the next generation’, and soon their story went viral.

And since then, things have been looking up. Samara and her mother have received support from all over the world, and keen to prove to Samara that is in fact a queen, The Courier ran a picture of Samara dressed as Elsa on their cover.

And now Disney have asked if Samara will make a special appearance in their Disney on Ice show when it hits town.

It's so sad to see that people are still raising their children to be disrespectful, rude and racist! They will get it back in full. Do unto others as you would have them to unto you. When I look at Samara, I see a very beautiful little girl.

Your thoughts?

I agree with you on this.
