Howdy Off Topixers!
I was busy the past few weeks training for a full-time job. I was accepted in a job at Credit information department in one of the biggest banks in my country. It is daily from Sunday to Thursday from 8:00 am to 4 pm. It is really a career that I never wanted but I am only in for the salary and benefits. Life is getting hard without enough income.
The question that has been confusing me for weeks since I first joined this bank a month ago is: Is it even possible to study programming properly and keep developing and sharpening your skills while on full-time job? Would the balance be possible? I want to keep the current job while learning programming and development in a way that would make able after a period of time to do a full career shift from banking to development. I am very passionate about software and I currently write HTML/CSS and I know the basics of programming and wrote few lines of JS and PHP.
Is it doable? The full-time work is from 8 am to 4 pm (8 hours). I am willing to fully devote my time into learning programming but would it be enough to get me on the track of hunting a software development career? or should I be completely free to fully focus on programming to be able to get a job at it?
Thanks in advance!
