I found this old documentary from 1977 to be pretty horrifying. They have radioactive waste everywhere and some of it is leaking out now.

Horrible!!!

I wonder what happened to the employees who were getting rid of the radioactive waste? They weren't wearing any type of protection.

You'd think there would be some records of that. I have not snooped around, though.

There have been, and are ongoing "issues" at Hanford Nuclear Waste Disposal site about three hours east of Seattle.
EXAMPLE

Nevada has been fighting the 'Feds' for years to keep out a big national nuclear waste disposal site in a very active seismic area of their state just a few miles from Las Vegas at Yucca Mountain.

If it was gamma, beta, or alpha ionizing radiation they probably died from accute radiation sickness years down the road if they were exposed to it. People didn't start taking radiation hazards seriously until the Chernobyl disaster.

Ever consider that we're all breathing, eating and drinking radioactive waste. All the fallout from nuclear bomb tests had to go somewhere and it didn't magically disappear. it's probably not measurable however how much is too much for a person.
