A transgender woman is taking selfies in men’s bathrooms

A transgender woman has started posting pictures of herself in men’s toilets in protest against a law that would force her to use them in future.

Brae Carnes, 23, slammed the law change in Canada as ‘an attack on trans people’.

‘As a trans woman I’m not even safe from discrimination at the pub. What’s going to happen if I’m forced into a men’s change-room?’, she wrote on Facebook.

Explaining her reasoning for the protest, she added that she looks ‘out of place’ applying make-up in a bathroom while men go about urinating.

She said: ‘I’m giving them what they want.

‘I’m actively showing them what it would look like if that became law and how completely ridiculous it is. It’s just not right.’

In 2013, Canada passed a bill to add gender identity to the Canadian Human Rights Act.

But while the bill was finally approved last month, a controversial amendment saw the exemption of ‘sex-specific’ facilities such as public washrooms.

Senator Don Plett had argued that allowing transgender women to use female bathrooms would potentially allow ‘paedophiles to take advantage of legislation that we have in place’.

However, Ms Carnes believes that the bill amendment could place vulnerable people at further risk of sexual assault.

‘I think [the amendment] is actually giving predators a chance and an opportunity’, she said.

Transgender is bullcrap. If you got a set between your legs you use the men's bathroom. otherwise you are a woman. If you go through the trouble to have yourself done surgically to be one or the other then I would say you have earned the right to use the bathroom you transformed yourself into. But being a guy and feeling like a woman or vice versa is not good enough by a long shot.
