What started as a creative way to document his year off has turned into a life-long project for a Brooklyn-based animator.

Cesar Kuriyama has filmed one second snapshots every day since his 30th birthday and edited them together in chronological order to create a six-minute video.

The resulting film builds a surprisingly profound picture of everyday life, incorporating a marriage and a funeral, tender moments with family and the beauty of nature.

Soon after starting the project, Mr Kuriyama admitted that he had to make changes to his lifestyle to keep the video interesting.

I realized that I couldn’t even spend a couple of days on the couch without detracting from the whole video. Footage of my typical routine was, frankly, boring. The One Second Everyday project has helped me to maintain my creative drive, as I am constantly attempting to capture something noteworthy. It has become a perpetual reminder to wake up and seize the day, he said.

Because of the positive influence it has had on him, Mr Kuriyama is planning to continue recording one second of each day for the rest of his life.

I found this to be a very interesting video. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

It is a very interesting idea and as long as it inspires him to get up every day, that's a good thing!

I'm so very happy you liked it Smooth. This video really moved me and made me think about what's really important in life. How we waste precious seconds on mundane things that really don't matter. Life each second like it's your last.
