What happens when an accordion-playing dog appears on live national TV and the accordion breaks, just moments before the cameras roll? Well in the case of Pup, an emerging YouTube sensation, the dog checks to make sure the musical instrument is in fact broken, and then he retreats to the side of his guitar-strumming owner and watches as he finishes Ghost Riders in the Sky, solo.
Shortly after returning home from the disappointing episode in Los Angeles, Ed and the Smiley Mountain Band took Pup along for a gig in Clovis, Calif., where Pup was born. They found themselves playing for about 150 people, half of whom were there just to see Pup perform live.
Ed was able to patch the accordion that broke on live TV, and now Pup has a whole slew of exciting prospects ahead. His video is scheduled to be seen on Discovery/Animal Planet's America's Cutest Dog 2 this fall, and he's expecting to make his Japanese television debut sometime soon after.
