What do you think of adoption?

Would you adopt?

Do you know anyone who was adopted?

Do you think parents who adopt have the same kind of love for their adopted child as natural parents have with their child?

Is it better to adopt a baby or an older child?

Should people adopt children from the same race?

What do you think of adoption?
I think it's great.

Would you adopt?
Hell no (not because I'm against adoption, but because I don't want children. I think adoption is great).

Do you know anyone who was adopted?
My mom, aunt, and dad.

Absolutely.

Older children tend to have a more difficult time being adopted, so older children.

Should people adopt children from the same race?
No.

I'd never adopt, kids arn't something I want

adoption is good though, so many children (like myself) grow up with abusive mothers, and it's nice to know that adoptive families exist (I often think about what it would have been like if I was adopted)

Adoption is great but I know of one couple who adopted a daughter who had been severely abused by her birth parents for, I believe it was 7 years, was then in a children's home for a couple of years and that little girl had awful behavioural problems which made their lives hell. They were not told before the adoption of her previous history, so were completely unprepared for her behaviour. and she hadn't received appropriate psychiatric help.

I don't know what the outcome was because I moved away from the area while it was all happening.
The last I remember they were looking at the possibility of putting her back into the system because they just couldn't cope any more.

These poor damaged kids need proper evaluation and help and support, not just farmed out to any unsuspecting family who can't cope and then the child is probably further traumatized if they can't cope.

Adoption is fine as it gives children a proper family but it's not for me as I don't like or want children. And since I don't want any of my own, why would I want to adopt someone else's?

My mom and dad.

Two adopted kids grew up and had their own bio-kid? Thats pretty cool :D

Sorry to hear that. That poor girl (and her adopted parents).

Hmm, I suppose they didn't need to because they had such an awesome kid already.... @Dee :D
Yeah, I guess most of my brothers and me turned out alright. The oldest half brother...not so much, lol.

How many brothers do you have?

I have a friend who adopted, her and her hobby fostered their daughter while they saved up to officially adopt her.

Two and a half. Two full brothers and one half on my dad's side.

So you have 3 brothers then :P

It costs money to adopt?

According to this: https://www.nerdwallet.com/article/finance/adoption-cost#:~:text=What it costs: You can, cost from $25,000 to $45,000.

What it costs: You can expect to spend between $30,000 and $60,000 if you adopt through an agency, according to the Child Welfare Information Gateway. It’s slightly less expensive to pursue an independent adoption, which involves working with an attorney. That process ranges in cost from $25,000 to $45,000.
I believe I read personal adoptions can be more.
