What is the best(simple yet effective) way to advertise a forum?

promotion forums, posting on similar forums with a signature banner that links to your forum or a simple text link will work sometimes (maybe with a little text to describe your site), search engine optimization / submission, directories, top site lists, etc etc etc.. There is a million ways to advertise but you have to have a forum that people actually want to join for any of it to work.

I stopped using promotion forums, key-words work well in your sig, google will also pick up on them.

I don't use forum promotion sites that much anymore.



I find Twitter, Signature ads, Link referral sites, Facebook all effective.

That's what I do as well.

When I had a forum, I mostly went on Promotion forums and took advantage of their services whenever I could. I also did Twitter at one point, but I didn't exactly care for it, though. And I also submitted to search engines. Plus, the signature bit helps as well.

Probabally advertisements in signatures, I've heard alot of people found my forums from my signature.
