The Alexa toolbar is regarded by many vendors, such as Symantec and McAfee, as spyware. Symantec classifies the toolbar as trackware. McAfee classifies it as Adware, a Potentially Unwanted Program. McAfee Site Advisor rates the Alexa website as yellow, with the warning:

In our tests, we found downloads on this site that some people consider adware, spyware or other potentially unwanted programs.

Well said Jazzy.

Alexa is a complete none entity as far as I'm concerned and I would caution everyone not to install their toolbar.

I think alexa helps, if you are selling a website or selling ad space if you have a good alexa rank you can sell for much more.

From what I've heard Alexa is a tool to measure how much traffic and ranking you have in comparison to other sites. The lower your rank the better. I'm told that the top 1% of traffic in Alexa comes from sites that have a rank of 100,000 or less.

Thanks Jazzy.

What was the error? I am king of the type'O's lol.

Alexa is a good measure, but not the only one. Too much emphasis is placed on it.

I used to have a similar ranking for my site Vanity Edge, to that of what Off Topix has. But then my site suffered the 'big crash of 2010' LOL. and now we're much more modest. I'm now more interested in driving my current members to post, and let others register organically, than living to attain new members. I promote in my spare time - it no longer controls me like it did

The word said before I corrected it was sadi.

I don't use the Alexa toolbar on either of my sites as several of the sniffers kick it out as spyware.

I have also checked my site's rankings on their service, and have watched them rise and fall several thousand places with no change at all to the traffic monitor on the servers.

Who knows where they get their rankings.

For Headbangers Haven

* Alexa Traffic Rank: 513,421

* Traffic Rank in GB: 33,572

Alexa takes a long time to register... or it did mine. I have never had a problem with it.
