Amazon wants to make it even easier to binge on "House of Cards" and "The Wire" until your eyes bleed. That is why the company released the Fire TV Stick, a $39 device that lets you stream Netflix, Hulu, Spotify, Prime Instant Video and more on your TV.
It's a direct shot at Google's Chromecast ($35), which also plugs into your TV's HDMI port for easy streaming. What makes the Fire TV Stick different? Like the Chromecast, it can be controlled with a smartphone app, but Amazon's contraption comes with a remote control. It also promises 50 percent more processing power and two times the memory of the Chromecast.
For people who pay $99 a year for Amazon Prime, the Fire TV Stick is only $19 for a limited time, plus they will get access to original shows and some HBO programming with Prime Instant Video.
In April, Amazon entered the streaming device game with the Fire TV, a Roku competitor with a voice-controlled remote control and video game controller. That remote is available for the Fire TV Stick for an extra $29.99.
With Amazon, Google, Apple and Roku all battling for streaming supremacy, one thing is certain: you will never run out of things to watch.
