The moment an innocent man is freed after 39 years in prison

A 53-year-old man has been released from prison after 39 years after being wrongly convicted of the 1975 murder of a money order salesman.

Ricky Jackson was found innocent after a key eyewitness recanted his statement saying he was present at the time of the murder of Harold Franks.

Mr Jackson is the longest serving prisoner to be fully exonerated of his crimes in United States history according to a lawyer from the Ohio Innocence Project.

The eyewitness, Eddie Vernon, was 12-years-old when the crime took place and his revised statement said he was on a school bus at the time.

Twenty four years of his life spent behind bars for a crime he didn't commit. How sad is this?

Does not change my mind about the death penalty but it does show there are people who work for our government who still care about the system. You can really see the relief from him at the end of the video.

so, liberty, you don't care if innocent people get murdered by the state? :|

good to know, and some would say that's extremism as well as terrorism...

but, it only seems that you care if the murderers are muslim...

if the american government kills then it's perfectly fine and justifiable...
