A Manvel boy spent the entire weekend celebrating his birthday, and it is the type of birthday not many people share. Today 10-year-old Sylver Osodo has one thing on his mind.
An NHL Player. I look up to them. They're kind of my idols, said Osodo at his Sunday hockey practice. He sees hockey in his future, and thinks it is a good way to spend his birthday.
It's just a fun winter sport because you don't get to do much in the winter.
Skating and shooting the puck around is the final day of a three-day birthday party for Manvel boy, Sylver Osodo.
First I had a family birthday party, then I went to a football game. I got a lego set and a lot of money. I got $230.
We got to go in a hot tub, actually. In one of the rooms of a fancy hotel and then we went to a water park, said his friend, Alec Held.
Ten is a pretty big deal because it is the first year of double digits. In Sylver's case, he is turning ten on the tenth day of the tenth month of the tenth year of the millennium.
I think he thinks it's pretty cool, said Rhonda Callahan of her son's unique birthday.
Her son is part of a select group with an age matching the day, the month and the year. A feat that can only be achieved until 2012.
It was kind of around this year we started thinking about it. We always thought he had a really cool birthday of ten ten 2-thousand, said Callahan.
Having a group of 10-year-old boys for a few days of celebrating was no sweat.
I was thinking, oh boy.
Callahan said her bond with her son made for a wonderful weekend.
We're pretty close, Sylver and I. This weekend wasn't work to me. I wanted him to feel so special..to commemorate his golden birthday.
While he has even more birthdays to look forward to before he's old enough to sign his NHL deal, Osodo's mom made turning 10 on 10/10/10 hard to beat.
I'm glad she did that for me. It makes me happy. She's very nice for that..

This is pretty darn cool if I do say so myself!
