Any tips to customize a blogger blog?

[font=Verdana, Geneva, sans-serif]Hi. Because I don't have the money to use a paid host, I'm going to have to use Blogger/Blogspot to host my blog. What I would like to know is are there any recommendations that you guys have that I can do customize this blog to make it my own.

From experience I think Joomla and WordPress are much better in terms of customization.
