Arctic Monkeys are to headline Reading and Leeds festivals this summer, it has been announced.

Fresh from their critically acclaimed fifth album, AM, the group will perform on the main stage during the twin events over the bank holiday weekend in August.

Punk-pop act Blink 182 are among the other headliners who have been announced already.

Sheffield's Arctic Monkeys were among the main acts at last year's Glastonbury Festival where they showcased new songs from AM.

The album went on to be nominated for the Mercury Prize, an award they previously won for their debut album.

Also added to the bill are The 1975, Courteeners, You Me At Six and Warpaint. The events are to be staged from August 22 to 24.

Fans are being urged to put down a deposit to be in with a chance of tickets, which cost £202.50 for the whole weekend plus booking fees, with further details at www.festivalrepublic.com.
