Whether it's movies or music, are the remakes better than the originals?

Not always IMO. I like the original version better most of the time when it comes to remakes. Music sometimes cover songs are better if not as good as the OG.

I personally feel that remakes are sometimes better than the original and other times, they are not and end up ruining the movie for some people.

I have myself seen some remakes that I have enjoyed but there are some I feel they should have left alone. Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory was one of them. I love Johnny Depp in movies but the remake just wasn't it compared to the original.

Most of the time, no. They don't do well. You'll get some remakes that people will accept, but most of them are not a success. Examples being Robocop, Point Break, Nightmare on ElmStreet, and Tom Cruise's The Mummy, Arnold Schwarzenegger's Terminator Genisys were huge failures in the US. They started working on a remake of Highlander and people objected to it so much that it never made it to the big screen. It just shows that remakes are a bad idea.

Ah yeah, for sure. I for sure don't like the Disney live action takes at all. Nightmare on Elm Street's remake was a bit blah, agreed. I cannot speak for the rest, really.
