Are sports too expensive for most people to enjoy?

Are tickets to sporting events too expensive?

Do parents have to spend too much money on equipment and uniforms when their kids are involved in sports?

Yes to all 3 questions. The only affordable sports is you simply buying a ball and playing with your friends in an informal way. If there is any sort of organization to it (little league teams, professional sports) be prepared to pay. I heard Super Bowl tix started just below $5,000 and went all the way up to around $36,000 for the most premium seats.

A ticket to see our local minor league team is $8 this year. Parking is free. On Tuesdays, a ticket is $2.

A ticket to see the Cardinals averages $40 although special deals can be had for less than that, but I don't think you'll get in for two dollars. Good luck on the parking. The team recommends you park someplace else and ride a train in.

Oh yeah similar over here. I used to take my kid to minor league baseball games back in the day sometimes. It was fun.

Going to watch a professional team? Absolutely. Trying to play a sport like American football, ice hockey, lacrosse, or even bowling? Yep, too expensive. Playing proper football? Not at all. Just a ball and some goalposts and you're set.

When it comes to watching sports, there's a huge non-league culture in the UK for football, because the top-tier teams are just stupidly expensive to watch now, so non-league is reaping the benefits and providing great entertainment for the money. In fact, a lot of YouTubers have started traveling to various football grounds up and down the football pyramid to see the different experiences.

Here in Arizona we have spring training baseball, so if I wanted to I could watch the major league teams (mostly prospects) for dirt cheap. It's a big draw, when spring training comes around traffic here picks up a lot! Games are packed and practices are free to attend. If you're a baseball fan, you can't really argue with that.

Sometimes the local bowling alley here will put out a groupon. Its cheap when you go that route but if you just show up and pay regular price it can be pretty pricey! :faint:
It sure can, and if you take it seriously and start buying your own gear like I used to do...eek!

"Proper football"?

The tickets are still outrageously priced.
