Are women more emotional than men?

Or is that just a stereotype?

It would seem that way ..... but I have met some men that get easily offended and can't take a joke so it makes you really wonder.

Probably

Can verify, yes. 100%.

I think on average, yes. Women can be more emotional than men. However, it depends on what you mean by that. Is it outwardly crying that makes a woman "emotional"? Let's get a little more detailed. Because I know plenty of guys who are huge pussies and whine about a lot of stuff, too.

Oh most definitely, as a trans guy I can tell you that once I started taking testosterone my emotions changed. When I get upset, I get over it much quicker than I did prior to transitioning. I think estrogen really does cause you to get more emotional.

Exact opposite for me, lol, so yes! Definitely the emotion drug right there!

It's a HUGE stereotype. We do CRY more. We do get more upset in a weepy way, yes that part is TRUE. However men simply express their emotion in anger, blustering, shouting, slamming something , stomping, etc. A woman who cries at work, OMG. You are "weak". But, a man shouting or pounding a table, oh he's just "passionate". We humans are ALL emotional and fickle creatures, it just comes out differently but womanly ways get labeled weak and men get a pat on the back for it.

Most of the men I have worked have been huge drama queens and my women coworkers have been chill and easy going.

I think it's because women let it out, it just happens (can confirm), while men bottle things up, don't talk about things that need talked about and don't want to not appear manly.

Yes and but we can control our emotions better too.

And it isnt that we are more emotional, but that society grooms us to be in the same way they groom men and boys to keep theirs in. This is what causes men to die early.. I am big on encouraging the men in my life to lean in on their emotions, instead of anger and to be more emotionally honest with themselves or others in our family. After all, if a tree doesn't bend with the wind, it will break.

Also, but should be noted that sometimes women cry, because we can't kill someone, or are about to.

Anytime I have cried in school, it was almost always before or during a fight.. I didn't cry because I was bullied, I cried because I was likely going to end up in jail, and them in the hospital for what I was about to do next.. and usually the next liquid you'd see will be blood.

Sometimes those are tears of rage.. not weakness or hopelessness..

Being a blunt man is seen as more socially acceptable than being a blunt woman.
I don't like that. I empathise with those who have neuro-diverse conditions - they feel more of a need to put a mask on .

We're all emotional which we convey in different ways.

I realise this is a little OT... but I do wish that ppl would realise that when we laugh it's not necessarily because we find something funny. It may be that nervous laugh because we feel self-conscious or ashamed or stressed of something. I remember the teacher back at school rebuking ppl for laughing at a failed grade. Putting unnecessary pressure on students is not nice!

I think it depends how it is looked at. If someone they are close to passes away most do cry or what not. I think what differentiates is how much they show as most are taught that men don't cry so that's not to say they don't but most men aren't emotional creatures by nature due to social stigmas.. at the same time a bunch are not as emotional due to their logical ability which i think inhibits the emotional outcome.
conclusion: It depends on the situation and how society ability to influence.

I don't think you can generalise about the difference between the genders. I know some men who cry easily and some women who just don't no matter how emotional they feel.
It's about personality not gender

I am aware of nervous laughter and can usually spot it. I also am guilty of doing it myself sometimes, although I try not to because of how people might misconstrue me laughing.

It's annoying - we shouldn't have to justify ourselves to anyone IMO.
It's all even worse when it's misinterpreted on a forum by a staff member as a dickish jab................
