Public transit. That's what I get a refund for from my employer. Plus, I save on overly expensive gas and don't have to worry about finding a parking spot, which is usually impossible to find anyway.Do you drive or take public transit to work?
Do you have to leave your house an hour before you have to be at work?Public transit. That's what I get a refund for from my employer. Plus, I save on overly expensive gas and don't have to worry about finding a parking spot, which is usually impossible to find anyway.
Thats why I don't use public transportation, it would take me that long or longer to get there and back. In my car, the drive is 15 minutes to work and 15 minutes home.Yes. I don't live at the workplace, you know?![]()
Why not move closer?15 minutes? You're lucky. Even with the car, it'd take me at least two hours to get to work and back home. With the public transit, I lose approximately 3 and a half hours per day commuting.
Are you renting? If you own your home you can sell it for current market price and then go buy another one closer to work at current market price. It should all even out. If you're a renter you probably have cheaper rent right now but eventually they'll bring that up to market price as well. Not sure how it works in other countries but probably better to stay where its cheaper for a long as possible. Can't afford to. Apartment and house prices in my country have skyrocketed since the beginning of the pandemic and the war in Ukraine, and the prices just keep increasing with no realistic foundation. I mean, the properties don't move, no one invests anything into them, nothing.
If anything, as they age, their overall condition worsens, realistically lowering their value, but the prices artificially keep going up anyway, resulting in a plethora of empty apartments.
Makes no sense to me.![]()
Oh so you inherited a free house from predecessors? Must be nice.I own a house, but the incredibly awkward location and design thanks to the stupidity of my predecessors (long story, won't go there), make it unattractive. I even had it officially appraised. Practically worthless due to reasons above.
I inherited some money to help me with the down payment on my house but I'll be paying for it for the next 28 years.Yes. It's a common thing in my country. I own it, might as well use it.![]()
Yeah but it doesn't really bother me too much. My mortgage payment is way cheaper than what I was paying in rent.Ouch.
How optimistic. With the heat waves getting more and more extreme each year, and other natural disasters looming about, I doubt we'll be alive 28 years from now.
