When you purchase furniture online or buy it from Wal-Mart and it comes in a box unassembled, are you good at putting it together?

Let me think.....nope.

I would definitely say I'm good at assembling furniture. I have friends who hit me up to this day to help them assemble furniture or figure out how to put something together.

I'm not good at assembling anything, and get frustrated very easily if something doesn't work that should.

I don't think I'm great at assembling furniture, but it's probably because I've never done much of it.

Good enough. I even had to finish an Ikea dresser without a hammer. Used a snow boot instead.

I've never tried, probably not.

I usually don't read these shitty directions and finish it without having to do it, LMAO.

So many instructions are poorly laughably translated.
I CAN assemble things fairly well, but fortunately my husband does not mind doing this & is very good at it.

A long time ago, in a city far, far, away, when my first wife worked at a department store, they hired me to assemble flat pack furniture, and other things, that they sold during the holidays for people who didn't want to put it together.

I learned quickly to take my drill, and have a large random selection of screws and brackets, and a big bottle of wood glue in my tool box.

The furniture was ALWAYS missing parts, the holes NEVER lined up, and "corner bracket C" had nothing to do with the boards and slats that were in the box.

I'd put it together so it wouldn't come apart when moved (a couple of drops of wood glue in the pre-drilled holes (or freshly drilled holes) works wonders that way), and then I'd help them load it and explain how to put the drawers back in after they unload it.

And, yes, the instructions are always written by somebody who has never seen the finished product, by somebody that does not speak English, and the pictures in the book for the "three drawer nightstand" are of the "multi-media cabinet and storage rack".

I forgot to add I'm good at putting many things together!

Mostly. I'm mildly handy (e.g. installed a keyboard tray on my desk last weekend) so furniture assembly usually falls into my skillset.

I am so proud to say yes I enjoy setting up furniture. I have friends who actually will call me up and ask me to assemble their furniture for them I'm pretty handy when it comes to that stuff. Ask me anything about plumbing or electricity and I am useless lol. Furniture though, I am good at setting up and assembling.

**Just realized I already answered this thread. My bad. It won't let me delete the post though.

No.

I'm actually so clumsy and incompetent when it comes to that stuff that I have had mental breakdowns when realizing how badly I was screwing it up.

yes, i'm good at assembling furniture and other stuff. I'm also one who wants good instructions... sometimes a rarity. I start by making sure I have everything i'm supposed to have.

worked as aide to a HS special needs student... autistic. he had a tech elective that was a lot of fun. we/he made a "maglev" train. built a bridge and then tested it to see what its max load would be. built Lego robots that student programmed to do certain tasks. FUN!

I don't have the expertise to do that at all. It is not as easy as anyone would say as it requires pretty much effort to achieve. The focus is always on ensuring that others do it for me or I call a carpenter.
