Anyone here watch ASMR videos on YouTube or other media? What do you think about them?

ASMR stands for autonomous sensory meridian response. It is a sensory and emotional reaction to certain stimuli. ASMR typically causes a tingling sensation that begins at the top of the head in response to soft or gentle triggers, such as having your face lightly touched or hearing someone whisper.

I know some people find them a bit cringey or off putting, but I love them. They help me relax at night before bed, and sometimes I will get tingles. I used to get them a lot when I first watched them, then I became 'tingle immune'.

I've tried, but ASMR never really worked for me. Maybe I'm just not giving it a fair shake, but I have tried a few times with different subject matter. One of my favourite retro gaming youtubers even started an ASMR channel about food and gaming that I tried to follow, but...just not for me.

I give them a big "meh."

I just fail to see the point of it all when watching/listening to them.

If it does something for you, thats cool. Rock on! :punk:

It does nothing for me anymore at all and just watch them for relaxing purposes.

It's just a thing you either like or don't, there's no middle ground.

@Kale

Sorry for necroing this. But I was curious when I searched this term up.

Guess you and I are one of the few odd balls that liked ASMR. It depends on the video too. I like the unpacking of cards, the one that simulating salon or getting a haircut. Mukbangs are a big no. Gross mouth sounds are gross. A lot of them are also... well... idk how to put it but tried to be enticing to certain demographic?
Ambient rain sounds, unpacking review videos, sometimes those ear cleaning ones I liked the best. :relax:
