When you use an avatar, what size do you try to make it? The standard avatar size of 100x100, or do you like bigger avatars?

I prefer 100x100, or 130x130, but nothing bigger. I think avatars that take up most of the page are very unappealing.

Ours is 130 width and a little longer length wize. A tall skinny image fits perfect in the space so make everyone have perfectly square images? They can if they want but rectangles are okay too. :)

I tend to go with whatever the biggest I'm allowed is. This avatar is a scaled down version of a 305*305 one.

Remember when everyone's avatars were squashed to be square, Nebulous? :P

The standard avatar size of 100x100, IMO, is way to small. Why even bother?

I have, however, seen huge avatars that are quite distracting.

I like the size avatars like we have here (130x170).

Usually I make a limit of 150x150px depending on the theme. But in general 120x120px to 150x150px.

Sounds reasonable and good to me!

Facebook's profile picture size is roughly 126px by 126px. So at least I'm being more generous most of the time than them :P

I try to go with whatever is already default/built in on the forum software. However, if there are requests to go in and change up the size, and if I agree that a size change is needed, I will gladly head over to the ACP and try to change it so the size satisfies everyone. However, there are times I've had on forums where, I'd get requests to change the size allowance, and then I'd agree with it, but then I go into the ACP to change the settings and it's like: "What the heck do I do now?" I can't even begin to count how many time's I have had to go to the support forum with this kind of question. Of course, it doesn't help when it's not a feature setting you mess around with much either. You might play with it once or twice during the time your site's open, but after that never again, so when the need arises to use it, it's mind boggling.

I work with whatever size is given to me. Usually I end up making my own from a screenshot or something.

180 x 180 is the max because it fits nice in the 200 wide avatar area.

My forum is currently set at 125x125, no complaints so far. I love how Off Topix has theirs set, I think that is the perfect maximum size.

On my forum, I prefer 100x100, just because anything bigger and the theme gets all distorted.
