Never had my own (thankfully, that kid would be destroyed), but my sister's partner has lived with us since her daughter was born, so pretty much had a kid from day one, even if more passive than active. Glad she's 5 now

I've never had a baby and it's probably a good thing. The crying triggers me in ways I cannot describe. Just being around my sister's kids a few times a year has been enough for me.

Be the horse whisperer. Acknowledge the baby has a reason to cry, try to find the reason. Sometimes it can be fixed. But don't try to invalidate the baby's feelings, and you can't always fix it.
I've found this works on people of all ages.

I would say being worried over their health a lot and having to take them everywhere. Not wanting to ever put them in anyone else's care
because you would have to trust someone with your baby's life, but also needing to so you can do some things on your own.

Their wonder about life. Full of love. No cares in the world they are learning everything for the very first time. Completely unaltered by society and treatment.
But also the way they can pick up on emotions so fast, they can actually be so caring, but can't really process what's going on yet.

Don't have one yet but I just know I'm gonna be sooo upset.
But luckily I don't have to prepare for the transition for a long time! I'll definitely be cherishing every single moment.

My biggest complaint is that they go through periods where they won't sleep. Another thing that goes along with them not sleeping are the constant tantrums some (not all babies) will throw.

Annoying? Ill-timed diaper changes.

Stop a baby from crying? Pop a boob in its mouth (my wife breastfed)

Too many to count, but still less so than teenagers. In fact, I would say that maybe 5-12 were the best years.

They seem so cute and helpless yet you know someday they will be doing exciting things in the world (mine is involved in computer chip design).

Mixed feelings. As a baby he was always there and close to us. Between physical distance and some family tensions a few years ago, we aren't that close anymore now that he's married and in a career. OTOH, both he and we have a lot more independence.
