I have seasonal allergies and went to the doctor to renew my medication. Unbeknownst to me, he prescribed a different medication than the one I've been taking. I started feeling stuffy so I took a pill. About an hour later, I started feeling sweaty and dizzy. I swear, I thought I was going to faint dead on the floor.

I immediately called the doctor. Dumb ass (excuse language) THEN told me he gave me a new medicine to try. Dumb ass then also told me to stop taking it....well...no crap Sherlock. He finally called in the order for the medication I used to take.

Questions: Have you ever had a bad reaction to medication? If so, what happened?

Oh, poor you! It's horrible when you get a bad reaction to meds.

I was on some daily meds but was told that the manufacturers were going to stop making it, so I was put on two different meds - one for daytime and one for nighttime. Unfortunately, they didn't work for me. I felt constantly dizzy and unable to even stand upright. Twice I had to take time off work because I felt so sick and dizzy. I asked the doctor to change them, but he refused saying that they were the best meds for me. After 6 months of feeling awful I wrote to the specialist at the hospital who immediately changed them to another brand and now I feel as good as I did before. I wish I hadn't let the useless doctor put me off for so long. That's twice he's recommended totally the wrong thing for me. He's such a pillock!

Yep. When I had an infection in my leg, I got prescribed an antibiotic. It caused diarrhea, sweating, and made me pass out. That was fun.

Doctors should not change medications like that

without telling the patient.

I had bad reactions to some meds a while ago, although it

wasn't so much 'what' I took as 'how much' I had to take.

I suffered a severe attack of Sciatica, so severe that I was

on a cocktail of meds to try and get the pain under control.

I was taking 20 + tablets a day, some of which were very

strong pain killers. I ended up in a right state. I couldn't

stay awake, I was halucinating and in the end had to

call the doctor and speak with him on the phone to get

the dosages changed.

At the time that I had a depression I had to take anti-depressants with some unfortunate side-effects. Can't say I ever got really sick because of medication though.

When I tried the psych med Thorazine, I got diarrhea and vomiting. They determined it an allergy.
