Bank Errors

My bank is very reliable and I've never had a problem with any of my accounts.
One time, however, at another bank where hospital employees can cash paychecks without having an account, I had a problem. I used the drive up window. I placed my check in the the slot and the teller then sent back an envelope with my cash. I didn't think to count it right then and there because I was late getting back. Once back to work, I opened the envelope to get some cash for lunch. I noticed the envelope was pretty thick. I then counted the money. For whatever reason, the teller doubled my check amount but the receipt was the correct amount of my check.
On my break, I drove back over to the bank to let them know they made a mistake. I was told by the branch manager that they could not take the money back until the 'cash drawer' was closed and tallied at the end of the day. She took my name and phone number and I left.
Next morning, I get a call from the bank manager telling me that the 'cash drawer' was short (x amount of money). REALLY???? Isn't that what I tried to tell you the day before?
Over to the bank I go again to give the money back. Who would think it'd be this difficult to return money? Worst part of this whole fiasco was I didn't even get a thank you.

Judging by that mad face, you didn't get that warm and fuzzy feeling from doing the right thing. Maybe you should have just kept it.
