What 'based on a true story' movie has the most lies and exaggerated scenarios?

Fargo. The Coen Brothers only put "based on a true story" at the beginning of the movie to further draw you into the movie. Nothing about that movie is true.

The woodchipper scene was based on an event from Connecticut, in which the first ever murder conviction without a body happened. A guy put his wife through a chipper.

The movie doesn't even take place in Fargo. It takes place in Minnesota, while Fargo is in North Dakota.

ROOTS by Alex Haley.

Very little about the story was true. Much of the novel which the TV movie was based on had been plagiarized from another work, which Haley admitted in court. Then later it was proven that much of the family history that Haley claimed was his own ancestors, was total fiction.

Fargo & Roots are great movies! ...probably because of all the exaggerated scenes though. :|
